We had a great time at Holme Lacy; we have been before and have booked again for next year. The activities are all very good and interesting and we took part in many of them. Food is always good at Warners, as is the accommodation. We always look forward to our visits and have visited all of the Warner sites; this is one of our favourites. Other favourites are Nidd Hall and Thoresby Hall.
visited the hotel to celebrate our anniversary with afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were taken to a separate area where the tables were all set with china and linen. The view out on to the terrace and grounds was stunning. The afternoon tea was exceptional with plenty of choice for two people we really enjoyed our afternoon.
My wife and I arrived on Aug 12th for a 4 night stay. Our room was excellent, the food was incredible and the entertainment was wonderful. We took full advantage of the archery crossbow and air rifle lessons; the pool; the walks; the trivia quizzes and games. After over 6 years of dealing with loss, it was an ideal way for my wife and I to have 'us' time. We made so many new friends and although there is work being carried out, it did not deminish our enjoyment. Our congratulations - and thanks - to all of the staff, the entertainers (including the STAX group) and management for making our stay so enjoyable.
This was our eleventh visit to a Warner Hotel and the first to this one. Very pleasantly surprised.
Our room was clean and comfortable, although a little too warm as it didn't have air conditioning. I don't think any of the Warner Hotels do.
The hotel is slightly more compact than the ones at which we have stayed before. There are several dining rooms, but the one allocated to us was very nice with period oak paneling and glass dome. The dining room staff were every efficient, courteous and helpful.
The food was not as good as most of the Warner Hotels at which we have stayed. The menus are similar at all, but it is the way that it is prepared that is different.
The quality of the evening entertainment is very is very variable at all Warner Hotels. This weekend we had Too Rex, a tribute band to T-Rex, on the Saturday night. We didn't like that and left. On the Sunday there was Essentially Elton (Jimmy Love). He was excellent The in-house entertainment teams are generally good and certainly very pleasant.
Overall a very pleasant hotel.
