This was our first visit to a Warners and, obviously, our first to Holme Lacy.
To address the CV issue, particularly the one raised about people mask less in the Blue Room. It’s a room....not a corridor therefore a mask isn’t mandatory although many still wore masks everywhere. I’ll agree there is an issue with the one way, particularly in the Pavilion.
On the whole we thought it was all handled very well and the staff remained pleasant while coping with the extra work.
The check in was handled superbly and auto-check out was so smooth.
We had a historic room complete with dedicated parking space that was new, spacious and comfortable.
Luckily we dined in the Blue Room every evening where were treated brilliantly by Fiona, what a star.
We didn’t find the food lacking in quality, maybe the quantity was a bit small but we’ve nothing to compare too.
Our only criticism is that with the severely reduced outdoor activity programme all bar one of the slots were gone by Saturday breakfast. Top tip....book on arrival.
Drinks are not overly pricy and the waiting service during the shows was a bit sporadic. Polishing required there.
Two night stay
We had a two-night stay at Holmes Lacy last week - it was our first visit to the hotel: we had a lovely, relaxing time and customer safety is clearly a priority. All necessary measures have been put in place but have not, in our opinion, impaired the guest's experience.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was full when we went to visit, they took our room number and gave us a call when there was a free slot for us. We also used the spa and the therapist was great about swapping times and treatments to suit our needs.
Particular mention should go to Mon, she was in the Courtyard Bistro where we had breakfast and dinner - she was a star, so friendly and helpful.
Having read other comments, we can appreciate the views on the food in terms of portion size but feel that the prompt, friendly service could not be improved upon.
The entertainment was changed from when we had originally booked, but it was excellent. The tables inside were well spaced and the bar service to the table was faultless.
Personally, we found it so much easier simply charging everything to our room and settling up at the end of our stay - it's what we are used to. However, we can appreciate this may have been a change for other guests who use the hotel regularly.
We will definitely return at some point, hopefully when the weather is a little less wet!
