Holme Lacy House is a wonderful hotel to stay. At first you are overwhelmed by the house and it's many rooms and corridors but it does not take long to feel settled in a lovely friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Fatastic food, comfy bedrooms and very helpful and friendly staff. We can't wait to do a return visit.
Returned today from a 3 night break and do not understand the negative reviews of this Warners hotel. Yes, there were refurbishments within the hotel but apart from the smell of fresh paint and protective coverings for the carpets in the halls there was no disruption. The workmen we did see were polite and quiet.Remember they are open 24/7 52 weeks of the year and work has to take place sometime. Our room 354 was clean.and welcoming. The food was varied and well presented and our waitress was very amenable. Entertainment in the Pavilion provided us with laughter ,great music and a hard working team. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. As were the immaculate gardens with its lake and walled gardens. We recommend this hotel and would be happy to return.
We went for a 4 night break in March. Check in was confusing, visitors were checked in on the drive on the way to the car park. The 2 people carrying out the check ins were very polite but it was proving to be a difficult task; several visitors drove past them, finding themselves having to turn back when reaching the car park.
Our room was spacious and clean, a comfortable bed .the lift to the 2nd floor was out of order, not a problem to us, but was to some less mobile guests.
The food was plentiful with lots of choice and the waiting staff were helpful and polite. The carvery was good, however, the food could have been hotter. Breakfast was excellent, again with plenty of choice.
The activities arranged for the day time were well organised and a special mention to Lisa, whom we had previously met at Thoresby Hall, she put everyone at ease and was very welcoming. Lisa will, I'm sure, be a great asset to Holme Lacy.
The evening entertainment was good and The 7 Drunken Nights, the story of the Dubliners, was exceptionally good.
One criticism I have is the pool & changing area. The bubble pool & swimming pool were not warm enough, I did tell the pool attendant, who assured me the temperature was at least 29degrees. I am certain it was not. The pool and changing area could have benefitted from a good clean and not up to the usual Warner standard.
All in all it was a lovely break and we would recommend Warners for a holiday.
