If you would rather enjoy a more active visit to Alvaston Hall we have an abundance of activities to keep you on your toes. We're well known for our golf course, or get a group together and enjoy a game of croquet, have a swim or join a class at the leisure centre - the choice is yours.
Although we have stayed at Warners hotels before this was our first stay at Holme Lacey. We were in room 209 (The Wye room). It was an historic room in the main house.views from the window were very good. Beautiful views from the window. You can also see the terrace and the putting green. The room was smaller than other Royale or historical rooms we have had in the past. The only downside was that the room was cold. We spoke to reception and the provided and electric radiator which we used in conjunction with our own fan heater. My wife Is disabled and in the afternoon has to have a rest so the intermittent heating was an issue. Be aware that when we arrived on Monday we were told by the maintenance man that the heating would not be on until 4pm. In the event it was closer to 5pm and this was the second week in November.. 5th November there was a fantastic fire works display in the grounds of the house. The Thursday afternoon before we left there were lots of heavy stomping in the roof space over our room which we suspect were the staff getting the Christmas decorations from storage.this was extremely annoying.
The food and entertainment were absolutely brilliant. We enjoyed the Elvis tribute person on the Monday best of all. It is also worth mentioning The Blue room evening entertainment, which was good every n night. The service in the dining room was very good. The food was excellent. My favourites were the leg of duck and the curry.
Overall another excellent stay at Warners.
